These are six references to half of the greatest commandment given to us, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” We love ourselves more than anyone in this world. We come into the world thinking about ourselves, what we want ad need, and it doesn’t get much better from then. Jesus calls us to live differently. He calls us to think less of ourselves, outside of ourselves, not of ourselves. He commands us to love God and love others. What does this mean for our money? Time? Relationships? Resources? Knowledge? Life? We should use as much as we use of these things for ourselves for others. We should give half of what we own to others. We should utilize our time and resources and knowledge to serve and love and give, give, give! There are greater things at stake here and Jesus invites us to live a life of surrender to Him! This is our joy!
