Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil. – Proverbs 4:25-27
It is so important always for us to be on guard and be careful about each step we take. Every thought I have leading up to every step must be guarded and filtered through God’s word and prayed over carefully and intentionally. This text is a warning for us: temptation will come. Our deceiving hearts will always tend to lean to the comfortable side. Our flesh will rage war against our spirit in any way possible. But have no fear, Jesus told us, “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart, I have overcome the world.” each tempation and trial, pain and sorrow we experience is now our joy and sanctification. An incredible promise. “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.” – Ephesians 5:15-16
So in these growingly heavy days, guard each and every step. Look DIRECTLY ahead of you. Fix your eyes upon Jesus.
