This week I pray you are living in this. Our God is God of gods and Lord of lords and he alone is good. He has shown us, as his servants, steadfast love. May we come before him this Sunday with humble and expectant hearts. May God move in us and make us all more like Jesus! May we worship him alone with all we are.
We will have a guest preacher this Sunday named Ryan. He will be preaching the Great Commission out of Matthew 28 and we will respond to God’s word through songs accordingly. Here is how you may prepare for this Sunday’s gathering; read this text and pray and sing these songs:

You can prepare for this Sunday’s service by listening to these songs and reading through this text. As a church we are continuing to memorize 1 John so that we can “Let the word of Christ dwell in [us] richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in [our] hearts to God.” as Paul admonishes us in Colossians 3:16. This will cause verse 17 to be true of us: “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

The text of Scripture is always about Jesus.

This Sunday we will look at 1 John 2:1-2. It will show us some features of Jesus that are incredible. These verses are a continuation of 1 John 1:5-10. This text emphasizes aspects of Jesus that we sadly may have grown used to, or perhaps have not thought about. The goal this weekend is to re-invigorate a passion and love for Jesus in regard to these things. These verses highlight some glorious truths about Jesus that should stun us, leave us speechless and cause us to worship in admiration and awe.

Your name and remembrance are the desire of our soul, My soul yearns for you in the night; my spirit within me earnestly seeks you. – Isaiah 26:8-9

This Sunday, because the text deals heavily with confession of sins, we will focus heavily on confession of sins. Notice the flow of these songs. First, we pray for the Holy Spirit to come and move our hearts to sing the praises of Jesus, recognizing that He is the only reason we are saved, from start to finish. We need the Holy Spirit in the service to speak to our hearts and reveal to us and in us, Jesus so that we can better know him and more deeply worship him. For, as Jesus rightly said, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all.” (John 6:63). As we have prayed for the Holy Spirit to move, we expect He will through the spoken Word of God. As Jesus continued to say in the same verse mentioned a moment ago, “The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.” After the sermon, we will act on the words with which we have been challenged by confessing our sins to Jesus, trusting that He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us. The songs will speak harshly of our sin and gloriously of Jesus which is a right view to take. We are sinners; He is the Savior. We will end the service, as we are sent to be the church, singing the great glories of Jesus because He rescued us from our bondage to corruption and into new life and joy in Him!

This is one of the most challenging texts I’ve ever prepared for. It has been very difficult. I have been having to really examine myself. I have had to ask myself questions like, “If I say I have fellowship with Jesus, then do I walk in darkness?”

Come ready to hear from the Lord.

1 John 1:9 shows us that we are, as Christians, always to be living a life of repentance. There is daily confession and repentance that must happen in our lives. This sermon is for those who know Christ and for those who don’t. We all must remember everything points to Jesus and His Gospel and His righteousness given to us.

Prepare your heart and mind to hear from God in His Word. The Gospel is good news. Come celebrate this good news with us this Sunday.

Here Is Love is back this Sunday.

How was the memorizing of 1 John 1 been going? I hope you made good use of the extra week you had to memorize it.

This week we will be continuing to look at the preface (first 4 verses) of 1 John 1. We saw last time that John was introducing and reminding us of the key aspects of what it means to be a Christian.

We should remember the audience that John is writing to as he explains these aspects of Christianity. The first century was only beginning to nail down their doctrine in regard to Jesus and Christianity.

So far, some aspects that we have seen are:
(1.) God (Jesus), has always existed. Therefore , Christianity, has always existed. (v. 1)
(2.) Jesus was also a man. (v. 1-2)
(3.) Jesus is the only way for life and salvation. (v. 1, 2)

This Sunday, April 11, we will study the other aspects of Christianity in the preface of 1 John. We will talk a lot about what it means to have fellowship with God and with each other. We will talk about what it means to really be a community of believers in the city of Rock Hill and what it means to be a community within our church. Hopefully we will be challenged to truly start loving each other and our neighbors.

Please pray that God will open your heart and eyes to hear from Him this Sunday. Get plenty of sleep on Saturday night and come ready to worship together as a church family.

Jesus Is Alive!!!

Amen!!

Jesus was wounded for OUR transgressions.
Jesus was crushed for OUR iniquities.
Jesus was beaten, whipped, spit upon, nailed to wood, and received the wrath of God for you so that YOU could be healed.

That is SO glorious!!!

BUT, that’s not all. If it was, then we would have NO message.

JESUS CAME BACK TO LIFE AND NEVER DIED AGAIN, AND STILL LIVES NOW!!!
1,980 YEARS LATER HE IS STILL ALIVE!!!

THIS IS AMAZING.

We all die. Even those in the Bible who were resurrected back to life died again. Jesus NEVER died again. HE LIVES FOREVER.

THAT is why we worship Him. THAT is why we celebrate on Easter with such fervor, with such excitement, with such joy!

Because Jesus lives forever, WE CAN TOO. We can live forever, like Him AND WITH HIM.

He died our death. He gives us life eternal that WE DO NOT DESERVE.

Easter is better titled “Resurrection Sunday”. We worship at resurrected Savior. This is the message we will proclaim this Sunday. It is a beautiful message. Bring everyone you know that needs to hear this message.
