for his steadfast love endures forever.
2 Give thanks to the God of gods,
3 Give thanks to the Lord of lords,
for his steadfast love endures forever.

This week I pray you are living in this. Our God is God of gods and Lord of lords and he alone is good. He has shown us, as his servants, steadfast love. May we come before him this Sunday with humble and expectant hearts. May God move in us and make us all more like Jesus! May we worship him alone with all we are.
We will have a guest preacher this Sunday named Ryan. He will be preaching the Great Commission out of Matthew 28 and we will respond to God’s word through songs accordingly. Here is how you may prepare for this Sunday’s gathering; read this text and pray and sing these songs:

Pray that the lost would be saved by Jesus to the glory of God. Pray that affections would be stirred and hearts would be moved to love Jesus and live for Him. I love you all very much.

This Sunday, because the text

This Sunday, because the text deals heavily with confession of sins, we will focus heavily on confession of sins. Notice the flow of these songs. First, we pray for the Holy Spirit to come and move our hearts to sing the praises of Jesus, recognizing that He is the only reason we are saved, from start to finish. We need the Holy Spirit in the service to speak to our hearts and reveal to us and in us, Jesus so that we can better know him and more deeply worship him. For, as Jesus rightly said, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all.” (John 6:63). As we have prayed for the Holy Spirit to move, we expect He will through the spoken Word of God. As Jesus continued to say in the same verse mentioned a moment ago, “The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.” After the sermon, we will act on the words with which we have been challenged by confessing our sins to Jesus, trusting that He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us. The songs will speak harshly of our sin and gloriously of Jesus which is a right view to take. We are sinners; He is the Savior. We will end the service, as we are sent to be the church, singing the great glories of Jesus because He rescued us from our bondage to corruption and into new life and joy in Him!
Here is how you can prepare yourself for the service:

Come Thou Fount

I encourage you to read through the text being preached this week. Hopefully, you are memorizing as we go along and have been meditating on these verse already. If you have missed any of the weeks prior, you can listen to the podcasts here. I love you all and look forward to worshipping with you through the preaching/hearing of the Word and responding in song, all for the glory and in the name of Jesus.

The text is Mark 4:35-41.
Jesus

The text is Mark 4:35-41.

Jesus just finished up a long day, teaching many people on the Kingdom of God. He withdraws across the lake with his disciples. All of a sudden a storm breaks out, throwing waves onto the boat and freaking out the disciples.
Jesus, being fully God and fully man, was sleeping, probably very fatigued from the long day, if he was able to sleep through such a violent storm.
The disciples, rather than acting on faith and trusting their lives in Jesus’ hands, awoke him and questioned his love for them. Their question represented the fear in their heart and lack of faith in Jesus. Does Jesus not even care that we drown? Is he oblivious to our needs? Is he really and truly in control of all things? Even this storm? Doubt. Fear. Idolatry. Pride. Anxiety.

Jesus spoke and rebuked the storm. Immediately, it stopped. And, immediately, he rebuked his disciples. He was, in essence saying to them, “Where is your faith? Why do you doubt me? Why do you fear? What makes you think a created storm is bigger than me, its Creator?”

Then the disciples were filled with a different type of fear. A reverence and awe type of fear filled them. It was a worshipful fear.
In the face of the storm, never doubt the authority of Jesus. He is the Lord of all creation. By Him and through Him were all things created and brought into existence and nothing exists outside of Him (Colossians 1).
FIX your gaze on His face. Trust in the absolute authority and power of Jesus. Don’t doubt Him. If you do, He is patient to answer you and always forgiving. If you don’t, but instead face the storm with joy, trusting Jesus, you grow and become more perfect and complete, lacking in nothing (James 1).

This Friday, Remedy Church will

This Friday, Remedy Church will be having its first Good Friday service. We would love for you and your friends and family to join us as we contemplate the suffering and crucifixion of our Lord Jesus. Please use this link to our website to answer your own questions and to spread the word via Facebook, Twitter and email about the service.

The what, when and where:

What? A service to meditate on and realize the death of Jesus on our behalf, in our place, for our sins.

When? Friday, April 2nd @ 7pm

Where? The BCM building of Winthrop University. Directions here.

This service, as all of our services, is about Jesus. It will be heavy. It will be real. My prayer is that it will help us better understand the Gospel and all that Jesus endured for sinners, causing us as believers to love him more and causing unbelievers to repent of their sin and turn to Jesus, seeing that he has absorbed all of the wrath of Almighty God on their behalf and has fulfilled his eternal plan of justifying sinners whom he loves.

Some verses to think on this week as you prepare you heart, mind and soul:

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. 22 He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. 23 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. 24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. 25 For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. (1 Peter 2:21-25)

And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. (Philippians 2:8)

Thinking on the Death,
