St. Patrick and Prayer

I’m reading a book called The Celtic Way of Evangelism by George C. Hunter.

In the beginning of the book, it tells of St. Patrick being kidnapped by Irish pirates.  When Patrick was captured, he found the absolute necessity and comfort in having communion with God through prayer.

There are some things we can definitely learn here.

First, it should not be that we are having a crisis, then we go to God.  We should just go to Him all the time, because we love Him, not because there is a crisis.

Second, it says that Patrick “was praying up to a hundred time every day and in the night nearly as often”.  That’s convicting.  Really convicting.  My prayer life is nowhere near what I think it should be.  This is a great reminder of the absolute necessity to be a man of prayer.

St. Patrick prayed more than likely up to 200 times per day!!!  How is your prayer life?
