Holiness
Lately, through conversations with various people, I have noticed within people (and myself) a comfort with sin that is wicked. What I mean is this: If someone pointed out a sin in your life, what would you do about it?
Would you get mad at them? Would you make an excuse about it? Would you actually stop doing it?
Here’s the deal. I know what you’re saying right now. “Of course I would stop“.
Are you giving yourself too much credit?
What I have found out about myself is that I give myself FAR TOO MUCH credit. I’m tired of hearing people say, “Your just being too hard on yourself.” Is that possible? Let’s read what Scripture says…
(14) As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, (15) but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, (16) since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
- 1 Peter 1:14-16
I think that answers if it is possible to be too hard on ourselves.
Resolved: I will NEVER be easy on myself when thinking/pursing holiness in my life. I will ALWAYS vehemently pummel my body and make it my slave. (1 Cor. 9:27)
What does/will holiness look like in your life?
