Having Trouble Worshiping? (pt. 2/3)

So what is another thing we can do to help us focus for worship?

[2] Ephesians 5:18-21 – “18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, 19 addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, 20 giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

The Second piece of wisdom from the Bible is that you should be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Being filled with the Spirit leads to a life where we will be “addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with all your heart.“  (v. 19).  We will also be “giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name for our Lord Jesus Christ.” (v. 20).  Lastly, we will “submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.” (v. 21).  These things are worship to Christ.  And there is no doubt that being filled with the Holy Spirit will only enhance our worship when we come to church.

But this leads to the question…How?  How are we filled with the Holy Spirit?  It is an act of God no doubt.  What I have been told as the answer is to pray for God to fill you with the Holy Spirit.  And, since the will of God is for us to be filled with the Spirit, we must, by faith, trust that He will fill us.  And this is true.  However, after this we rarely feel any different.  But, truth cannot be based on feelings.  But, at the same time, feelings are involved on some level.  Feelings are not a basis for truth, however God has given us feelings and emotions and ignoring them cannot be wise.  So, the answer, I believe, lies in the same book (Ephesians) two chapters before.  Which is the third piece of wisdom from the Bible.
It is coming soon.
