What does Remedy Church believe about the … Bible?

(As always, if you have a question about what Remedy Church’s position is on something, please email your question to blog@remedychurch.org and it will be answered here.)

I have already written variations of this here and here.  But they were just both about sufficiency, which is a part of what we believe about the Scriptures.

Our website says this about what we believe about the Scriptures:
We believe the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Mark 13:31; John 8:31-32; John 20:31; Acts 20:32

But what does all this mean?

There are 2 ways I want to answer this.  The first will appeal to just (1) knowledge, the other will be about what our right (2) response is in regard to the knowledge we get in the first point.

1.)  KNOWLEDGE:
The Bible is Inerrant.
This means it is without error.  When the inspired writers wrote the Bible, the writings of theirs were divinely inspired and without error.  This statement is based on the nature and character of God.

The Bible is Divinely Inspired.
God wrote the Bible through men.  As they wrote, their personality, character, intelligence, were all present in their writings.  But God still superintended the writing of His Scriptures as they wrote.

The Bible is Sufficient.
As I have said in other posts, this is the most overlooked and misunderstood attribute of the Word of God.
Why?
Because, while EVERYONE agrees that the Bible is all we need (sufficient) in order to become more Christ-like and holy, practically this belief is RARELY lived out.
This is evident in churches and people.
- It’s evident in churches where the word “expository” is a word that the pastor has never even heard of, where non-Gospel centered messages are preached based on “morals” and “potential” rather than a bloody cross where everything was paid for by Christ.
- It’s evident in people where the Bible is rarely ever read.  Don’t say you believe the Bible is sufficient and then never read it.  This is the mark inanity, absurdity and foolishness.  If you don’t read the Bible, then you DO NOT believe it is sufficient.  It truly does not matter what you say you believe, if you do not live it out, then you DO NOT believe it.

This leads me to the second part I wish to speak about … our response.

2.)  RESPONSE:
If we truly believe that the God of the universe – the One Who created everything, breathed life into our lungs, has given us everything we have, upholds the universe by the Word of His power, and is keeping you alive right now – has spoken in His Word, the Bible, then our only right response is to COMPLETELY SUBMIT to what the Scriptures say in regard to how to live.

It’s amazing how person after person (including myself) will make excuse after excuse to not simply follow what His Word says and submit to His Lordship, worship Him in all things and OBEY.  Our right response should never be a “stiff neck” to the things of God but a bended knee.  Because the truth is, that one day, willingly or unwillingly, all of us will bend our knees to Him.

So, in conclusion, read, memorize, meditate on and study the Word of God to hear from Him and see Jesus in the pages of the Bible as the most precious reality of the world.  Don’t just do this once per day for a few minutes.  You would never spend that little time with someone you really care for and love.  Leverage all your time you can practically throughout the day to be with, love on, exalt over, and worship, our KING, Jesus.

Real Life

We are so fortunate.  THIS is real life for most Christians not living in America.
