This Friday, Remedy Church will be having its first Good Friday service. We would love for you and your friends and family to join us as we contemplate the suffering and crucifixion of our Lord Jesus. The what, when and where:
What? A service to meditate on and realize the death of Jesus on our behalf, in our place, for our sins.
When? Friday, April 2nd @ 7pm
Where? The BCM building of Winthrop University. Directions here.
This service, as all of our services, is about Jesus. It will be heavy. It will be real. My prayer is that it will help us better understand the Gospel and all that Jesus endured for sinners, causing us as believers to love him more and causing unbelievers to repent of their sin and turn to Jesus, seeing that he has absorbed all of the wrath of Almighty God on their behalf and has fulfilled his eternal plan of justifying sinners whom he loves.
Some verses to think on this week as you prepare you heart, mind and soul:
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. 22 He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. 23 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. 24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. 25 For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. (1 Peter 2:21-25)
And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. (Philippians 2:8)
