Dec. 26 and Snow

Dec2010 25

I still think it always seems to snow on Saturdays in Rock Hill.

Well, we have finally had a “White Christmas” in Rock Hill (kind of).  So, it is with great regret that we have to cancel the service tomorrow.  We will be back to meeting regularly next week, January 2, 2011.

There is something very special every week about meeting together as the body of Christ.  WE NEED IT. So, I’m excited to meet with yall next week.

However, just because we aren’t meeting doesn’t mean that we aren’t still the church.  Also, it doesn’t mean that we can’t still study the Word of God together.  Since we have this gift of technology, then, let’s take advantage of it and study the same thing this week.

Here is what I want us to do this week as a church:
1.  Tomorrow, on Sunday, during “church hours”, get your family, loved ones, etc… together (or if you’re not married, grab some roommates) for an hour or so to read, pray and worship. (a church service at your house of sorts.)
2.  Read 2 Samuel 6.
3.  Listen to this sermon (click here) by JD Greear called “Still Small”. (If you prefer iTunes, then click here)  If you clicked the first link, you will see the player at the bottom of the page.  Click on the sermon called “Still Small – 2 Samuel 6:1-23″  You can watch it on video or just listen to the audio.  If you did iTunes, then download and watch the sermon called “Still Small”.
4.  After the sermon, discuss with your family (or roommates) the applications this sermon has on you, your family and friends.
5.  Sing some worship songs together and worship Christ together.
6.  Close with a time of prayer asking Jesus to make these things you have discussed happen in your life.

This will serve as the text that we will study together as a church this week for community groups too.

We will resume services next week as scheduled studying Matthew 2:1-12 next Sunday.

I love you guys and will miss you this week.  See you next Sunday.
